Answers, faster

From wellness screening blood tests to advanced imaging, our diagnostics give us fast, accurate answers—so we can care for your pet without delay.

Beyond the wellness visit

What we diagnose and treat.

Bonnie Mara Animal Hospital is a full service general practice. In addition to routine wellness, we can diagnose and treat many acute as well as chronic diseases in our dogs and cats.

In addition to our in-house lab equipment, we have x-ray and the capability to do abdominal ultrasound, and experience treating everything from a simple case of diarrhea to Diabetes, Cushing’s Syndrome, heart disease or Hyperthyroidism. We also have established relationships with the local specialists and can help organize referral when that is the best option for your pet.

Lab testing

In our laboratory.

  1. 01

    In-house laboratory

In-house testing lets our team diagnose many illnesses while you wait. Our capabilities include essential blood and urine testing, parasite testing, dermatology testing, and more.

Bedside results give us critical health information in minutes—so we can formulate and begin a treatment plan without the lag of sending tests out.

  2. 02

    Reference laboratory

For specialized and non-urgent tests, we partner with top-tier reference laboratories. They provide comprehensive services—including blood panels, histopathology, and cultures—to help us reach an accurate diagnosis.

Reference labs complement our in-house testing by giving us a more complete picture of your pet’s health.

Imaging

Diagnostic imaging.

01

Digital X-ray

X-rays are a vital tool for examining your pet’s bones, joints, chest, abdomen, bladder, and other internal structures. Our technology delivers fast, high-quality images while minimizing radiation exposure, and our veterinarians may consult a radiology specialist for expert review.

Reasons we may recommend an X-ray

  • Suspected fracture or soft tissue injury
  • Vomiting
  • Urinary tract problems
  • Abnormal abdominal palpation
  • Heart murmur
  • Coughing or difficulty breathing
  • Urinary stone analysis
02

Ultrasound

A non-invasive technique that provides detailed, real-time images of your pet’s internal organs without radiation. We use ultrasound to evaluate organs, obtain biopsies, collect urine, and monitor hospitalized patients.

Abdominal ultrasound—a complete scan of the liver, kidneys, spleen, bladder, adrenal glands, pancreas, gallbladder, and intestines. Essential for diagnosing tumors, evaluating organs, and guiding needle biopsies.

Dermatology

Skin, ears and allergies.

At Bonnie Mara Animal Hospital, we can diagnose and treat skin and ear infections, and help manage allergic skin disease. So many of our pets with recurrent ear or skin infections, or itchy, smelly skin, have underlying allergies.

We’ll work with you to treat the symptoms, but also to address the underlying causes of allergic skin disease—food allergies, environmental allergies, a compromised skin barrier, flea allergies, or hormonal health conditions. We also have a long-standing relationship with our local veterinary dermatologist, Dr. Greek, and will refer to her when indicated.
